Quilly

It is a Quilly day. Time to take Quilly’s three words for the day and write a story. . Click on the word for a definition

sevidical; morsicant; veteratorian

The Doctor told him that he was perfectly healthy and that he had no sores of any kind. Nevertheless the morsicant pain continued. It never let up, not in the morning and defiantly not in the night.
It had all started when the gypsies came to High Cloud River and the complaints started to come in to his office. All over High Cloud River people were being scammed in one way or another. So as Mayor he had gone on the local station and in what seemed like a sevidical manner he denounced the gypsies and told people to stay away from them.
Their response was a veteratorian curse. At noon on the day after his broadcast and old Gypsy Lady , wearing traditional gypsy garb, appeared in front of his office and loudly proclaimed “ This man will from now until he apologizes feel the Gypsy bite”.
Thus began the morsicant sensations in various parts of his body.
He had flown to Chicago to talk to an expert on Gypsy curses. He was told that Gypsies had no magic powers. The curse only worked because he, the Mayor, believed it worked. That was the veteratorian nature of the curse.
So the Mayor tried not believing. He pretended the biting pain was not happening. He told himself over and over that it wasn’t real. But it did not go away.
Finally in desperation he went on television and apologized to the Gypsies for his sevidical words.
Immediately the biting sensation ceased.
The curse was over or at least he believed it was over which just might be the same thing.

And of course with Quilly's words comes the required quivel.
There is poetry which a few people do well.
Then there is poetic drivel which is more fun and has its own experts.
But below them all is Quivel
Remember to write quivel you must write something that looks like a poem, any style , but is so bad that if it was printed in a book of poetry a true poetic zoilist would tear it out and burn it. What looks like bad haiku is really qiku where the middle line must always contain a Quilly word.

New Truck?

Morsicant sensations the poor man gets
Whenever down upon the seat he sits
Causing speech in a sevidical manner
Words never written on a banner
No veteratorian technique here
Not with countenance so severe
Such pain to acrasia leads
From that soon follows deeds
His actions might risable seem
Certainly way off the beam.
So get a new seat for the old truck
Or in the pain cycle be stuck.

Soft & kind
sevdical
Mean & nasty

Peaceful
Morsicant
Bees Swarm

Above board
Veteratorian
Devious Actions

Of course the dragons were busy today you can see them HERE.

This is the thing with curses - you've not only to convince the conscious they don't work, but the unconscious, too :-)
Enjoyed that.

Really enjoyed the Quivel today. (I guess that it means that it was poor Quivel. lol) I'm always amazed by your way with words.

Well remind me never to piss off a Gypsy. REally the only gypsy I ever knew was Gypsy Rose Lee. Loved the story. Glad the mayor apologized. Great use of the words as usual Dr. John. Aloha

I'm with Cherie -- how do we compliment the quivel -- by saying that was 'so bad' or 'so good' or...at any rate it was certainly inventive! I'd leave it in the poetry book!

And the story of the Mayor is well done if entirely fictitious. Imagine a politician admitting a mistake and apologizing. Hah!

My My, the dragons were not the only ones busy today, Dr. John. I most thoroughly enjoyed your quivel. Perhaps next time I will give it a try.
